The online world today is faced with countless threats: data leaks and breaches caused by bugs, poor protection and poor security. This makes safety another task for web developers.

In this workshop, the 10 most common and harmful safety problems will be addressed, in the manner they were drawn up by the Open Web Application Security Project. We will demonstrate the breaches to each problem, and how you can ensure that your data is adequately protected.  Participants will take on the 3 most interesting problems themselves in a hands-on lab.

After the workshop, developers will have a better understanding of, and insight into the importance of, the safety of web applications. Participants will understand the causes behind the most common leaks and breaches, and walk away with the mindset and tools needed to make the internet a safer place for its users.

Audience
Web developers, primarily back-end. Suitable for front-end developers with an affinity for the languages used in back-end development.

Conditions for participation
The hands-on section requires a laptop with Java.

Topics

  • For each of the 10 problems we will present detailed information, examples and the protection.
  • Hands-on lab for 3 of the subjects.

Guy is a full-stack software engineer who is interested in new technologies. Security and testing are also attracting his attention. Often this goes hand-in-hand because new technologies contain vulnerabilities. Searching for new attack vectors to increase the attack surface is a fun puzzle for him. A statement he uses a lot is: "Security engineers need to think a step further than software engineers because they need to be able to read, understand and abuse the code".
